Enjoy it. There is an overwhelming amount of information when you start your wedding planning journey. Its no denying that weddings are expensive...but the sheer reality of just HOW expensive they are can be shocking.
Do some vendor research!
High Priority Vendors: Venue, Caterer, Photographer & Wedding Planner
Medium Priority Vendors: Videographer, Rentals, Hair & Makeup, Live Painter
Lower Priority Vendors: Transportation, Cake, Content Creation
Set a budget.
This may involve some awkward conversations with parents. Is anyone able to contribute? Who is paying for what? My NO.1 piece of advice is DO NOT go into debt for your wedding. A wedding can be beautiful without spending $50k.
(Nobody talks about this so I'm going to...) You may experience a level of guilt. "$6,000 for a venue is so expensive...that could have gone towards xyz..." Please know this is NORMAL. Spending money and having a sense of buyer's remorse happens to everyone. Figure out what is MOST important to you and your partner. I call these things your "pillars." These are your absolute MUST HAVES for your wedding day, and they look different for every couple! Is it your open bar? Your dream venue? Having your dogs at your wedding ceremony? Your dream caterer?
Make a list of 3 super important items, and stick to them! this may mean that you sacrifice in other areas.
HAVE FUN
You only do this once...
Start touring venues! Make a list of what you love and what you did not. Can you see yourself walking down the aisle here? Can you see your friends and family in this space? If yes, BOOK IT!
Does this information already feel overwhelming? Hiring a wedding planner may be the for you...and I'd love to help!
