Z & C

To know them is to love them.

One of my favorite parts about being a wedding planner is getting to know my couple on a much deeper level through the wedding speeches given. Oftentimes, these speeches paint a picture of the couple's character, love story, and even an embarrassing moment or two. My time started with Zoe and Colby around 3:00 PM the day of their rehearsal. While the day was beautiful, it was also scorching hot (...I'm talking 96 degrees but feels like 105 degrees), so instead of hosting their rehearsal dinner outside in the field underneath the string lights, we opted to have it in the garage of the Lafayette House. Despite the last-minute change, we were able to create a lovely Americana-themed rehearsal dinner, which was only appropriate given that it was The Fourth of July. Zoe and Colby are very centered in their faith, and they wanted to use the opportunity of this congregation of people, to honor God and their families. After dinner, Zoe and Colby got down on their knees and washed the feet of their parents, as well as their pastor and his wife. The overwhelming respect and love of this interaction brought everyone to tears. This was followed by a prayer walk in The Birdsong Chapel. Every pew in the chapel was prayed over. The next morning at 9:00 AM it was all hands on deck to get the tailors unloaded and get the ceremony and reception space set up. It truly takes an army (especially for anyone doing DIY anything), and I'm so thankful for the help and support of both families to bring these spaces to life. They thought of everything...and I truly mean EVERYTHING, from the custom crest that appeared throughout the ceremony and reception, the detailed seating chart, disposable cameras at each table for guests to take their own photos, fresh florals that were hand cut for each table, a custom crest cake topper, choreographed first dance, hand-built cross for the ceremony space, custom ceremony programs that doubled as a fan, cooling washcloths that were dressed with essential oils, and the list goes on. Zoe and her dad, Frank, shared the sweetest emotion-filled first look, where Zoe presented him with a custom tie that had a photo of them many years ago stitched into the back. My goal for all of my weddings is to only share happy tears, and we were successful in that. Zoe and Colby decided not to do a first look, and see each other the very first time as she was being walked down the aisle, and I can assure you, there was not a dry eye in the room. Colby immediately burst into tears of joy and gratitude, while Zoe looked to him with tears of love. They shared the most incredible personal vows up at the altar, giving all glory to God. Their vows were followed by an opportunity to worship before they were announced for the very first time. Zoe and Colby once had their wedding entrance go viral (like millions of views viral), so of course, they had high expectations for their bridal party entrances. From blow-up guitars, to wigs, to confetti-poppers, to money guns, to peanut butter and jelly costumes, they did not disappoint. The entrances were followed by a choreographed first dance, parent dances, and heartfelt speeches. The night ended with a private last dance and the ultimate fairytale exit of a sparkler exit, and a firework show. venue: The Cornelius Properties photography: The Axtells videography: The Axtells planing: LS Planning & Co.
